Are you ready to join the team of software engineering experts at Kyndryl? We are seeking a talented Platform Engineer to contribute to our engineering space and provide critical skills required for the development of cutting-edge products.
As a Platform Engineer, you will develop solutions in specific domains. Among your key responsibilities you will find:
Platform Operations & Support
- Troubleshoot, monitor, and optimize Backstage performance, availability, and reliability.
- Support CI/CD integrations and pipelines using Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines).
- Operate and support Backstage in Azure Public Cloud environments.
- Manage containerized deployments using Kubernetes, Helm, and container orchestration tools.
- Collaborate with platform and SRE teams to ensure high availability and operational excellence.
- Maintain clear operational documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
Backstage Development & Customization
- Develop, customize, and maintain Backstage plugins integrating CI/CD pipelines, observability and monitoring tools, security and governance platforms, cloud services and APIs
- Extend Backstage Scaffolder templates, catalog entities, and APIs to support new and evolving developer workflows.
- Implement and enhance frontend and backend components using Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
- Ensure clean, scalable, and maintainable plugin architecture aligned with Backstage best practices.
Developer Experience & Automation
- Partner with Platform Engineering and DevOps teams to deliver self service automation and improve developer onboarding.
- Enable standardized workflows for service creation, deployment, and operational visibility.
- Drive adoption of Backstage as a central developer portal and golden path platform.
- Continuously improve developer experience through feedback, metrics, and platform enhancements.
Security, Authentication & Governance
- Implement and manage authentication and authorization mechanisms within Backstage.
- Integrate OAuth/OIDC for secure access and identity federation.
- Ensure governance, compliance, and access controls across plugins and integrations.
- Support API based integrations across the developer toolchain.
Requirements
Do you have experience in TypeScript?, You're good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. And finally, you're open and borderless - naturally inclusive in how you work with others., * Strong hands on experience with Backstage, including plugin development and extensions.
- Proficiency in Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, especially Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines).
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes, Helm, and container orchestration.
- Experience working in Azure Public Cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of OAuth/OIDC, APIs, and system integrations.
- Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and cloud native tooling.
