Job Description Senior Cyber Security Architect (Permanent) £95,000 - £105,000 | London (Hybrid) We're looking for a Senior Cyber Security Architect to join a growing organisation at a pivotal point in its cloud security journey. Following recent changes, this role is about bringing senior technical leadership, stability, and direction into the cyber team - someone who can define what good looks like, mentor junior specialists, and shape cloud security in a pragmatic, real-world way. This is an AWS-focused role, with significant influence over how cloud security is designed, implemented, and matured across the organisation. What you'll be doing * Acting as the senior security authority for cloud architecture and engineering, with a strong focus on AWS * Leading secure cloud onboarding and greenfield build activity, defining standards, patterns, and guardrails * Influencing architectural decisions and representing cyber security in design and review forums * Mentoring and guiding junior team members across SOC analysis and vulnerability management * Providing expert oversight of cyber risk, vulnerability (including vulnerabilities in code), and security analytics * Supporting incident response, including zero-day scenarios, alerting, and SOC robustness * Working closely with engineering and technology teams to embed secure-by-design practices * Producing clear, meaningful security reporting and metrics for leadership This role balances hands-on technical credibility with the ability to guide, influence, and enable - you won't be expected to do all the engineering yourself, but you'll know when and how to step in. What we're looking for Essential * Strong, hands-on AWS cloud security experience (designing, building, and securing environments) * Background in security architecture and security engineering * Deep understanding of cyber risk, vulnerability management, and cloud security best practice * Experience mentoring or supporting junior security professionals * Pragmatic mindset - able to balance security, delivery, and business needs Nice to have * IAM experience (useful, but not essential) * Experience in regulated or financial services environments * Exposure to Azure (future consideration) * Security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, Security+, GCIH, etc. Why this role? * High-impact role shaping cloud security direction in a maturing environment * Genuine autonomy and senior influence * Opportunity to mentor and grow a developing cyber team * Engineering-heavy cloud work during build phases, with less operational burden * A role focused on doing security well, not just writing policy Interview process * Technical & team interview (with the cyber team) * Face-to-face interview with senior stakeholders * HR final stage Guidant, Carbon60, Lorien & SRG - The Impellam Group Portfolio are acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
