Job description
We are looking for a motivated Graduate Electronics / Software Engineer to support the design, development, and testing of electronics and embedded software systems for new products and technologies. This role sits at the heart of our R&D activity and is ideal for a graduate with a desire to work in an environment that involves hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and working across disciplines.
You will work closely with mechanical and systems engineers on projects that combine electronics, embedded software, and physical hardware, contributing to products from early concept through to prototype and refinement., * Support the design and development of electronic systems
- Develop, test, and debug embedded or low-level software for hardware systems
- Build, modify, and test prototypes
- Carry out system testing, record results, and report findings clearly
- Debug and troubleshoot electronic and software-related issues
- Support the integration of electronic systems, software, and mechanical assemblies
- Assist with the development of higher level software for testing, data acquisition, or automation
- Maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and components stock

Requirements
- Degree in Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- Interest in working at the interface of hardware and software
- Understanding of core electronic engineering principles
- Understanding of and basic experience with software development (e.G. C/C++)
- Comfortable using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies
- Able to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation
- Methodical, organised, and detail-oriented
- Able to work independently and manage your own tasks
- Curious, adaptable, and keen to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Eligible to work in the UK
Desirable Skills (Not Essential)
- Embedded systems or firmware development experience (e.G. PIC, ARM, Arduino, NXP)
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, sensors, or control systems
- Experience with PCB design tools (e.G. KiCad, Eagle)
- Experience with version control systems (e.G. Git)
- Experience with higher level software development (e.G. .NET)
- Soldering and electronics assembly experience
- Exposure to real-time systems, automation, or data acquisition
- Experience working in a start-up or small engineering team
