Job description
At OSB Group, we're evolving our network landscape to support modern, cloud-first digital services and deliver an exceptional user experience. We're looking for a T-shaped Cloud Network Engineer with deep expertise in networking and network security, combined with a broad understanding of cloud, infrastructure, and application connectivity.
This is a hands-on engineering role within our Cloud Core team, where you'll design, build, and operate secure, resilient, and highly available network platforms across both Azure and on-premise environments. You'll play a key role in our journey from traditional data centre and MPLS-based networking to internet-first architectures, enabling secure, scalable, and high-performing connectivity.
You'll combine deep technical specialism with the ability to collaborate across disciplines, reporting into the Network Solution Architect and working closely with cloud, security, and application teams to deliver modern connectivity patterns and improve end-to-end user experience.
The role can be based from our Wolverhampton or Chatham with flexibility to operate across within our hybrid policy. What you will be doing?:
As Cloud Network Engineer you will play a key role in designing, delivering, and evolving secure, resilient, and modern network platforms across cloud and on-premise environments, supporting OSB Group's transition to internet-first and Zero Trust architectures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design, build and operate enterprise network platforms across Azure and on-premise, ensuring secure and highly available connectivity
- Produce low-level designs and implement core networking capabilities including routing, switching, SD-LAN, SD-WAN, SASE, and Zero Trust
- Lead the design and delivery of Azure networking patterns such as hub-and-spoke, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall, and load balancing
- Support the transition from legacy network architectures (e.g. MPLS, VPNs) to modern internet-based and Zero Trust connectivity models
- Embed Infrastructure as Code and automation practices using Terraform, Ansible, and Azure DevOps to enable scalable, repeatable deployments
- Collaborate across cloud, security, infrastructure, and application teams while acting as a subject matter expert, ensuring secure, compliant solutions and continuously improving network platforms
What's in it for you?:
- Base salary between £57,000 - £67,000 dependent upon experience
- Enhanced family-focused benefits
- Annual bonus opportunity up to 15%
- 28 days annual leave + bank holidays
Requirements
- Proven ability to design, implement, and operate multi-site and hybrid (cloud and on-premise) network architectures
- Strong experience with Azure networking, including hub-and-spoke, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall, DNS, load balancing, and hybrid integration
- Expertise in advanced routing and switching (e.g. MP-BGP, EVPN, VLAN, VXLAN, STP, LACP) and experience with core network services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, QoS, 802.1x) and enterprise wireless networking
- Experience producing low-level design documentation, standards, and runbooks, and acting as a senior network specialist within multi-disciplinary delivery teams
- Practical experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Azure DevOps), alongside strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills
- Experience using Palo Alto firewalls and Prisma Access (or equivalent)
- Ability to translate complex network and security concepts into simple, clear explanations for a range of stakeholders, and to provide authoritative technical guidance and challenge where needed
