IT Systems Engineer

We are looking for a skilled IT Systems Engineer to manage and maintain core IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and services. This role focuses on system reliability, automation, and performance across business-critical environments., * Administer Linux-based servers (e.g. Red Hat Enterprise Linux and derivatives)

• Configure and manage network services, firewalls, and VPNs
• Maintain file and print services using Samba and CUPS
• Deploy and support web services such as Apache HTTP Server
• Implement and manage system security, including SELinux policies
• Write and maintain automation scripts (Bash and related tools)
• Support virtualisation platforms such as Proxmox and VMware
• Manage databases including PostgreSQL
• Configure RAID storage and ensure data integrity and backups
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and performance issues

• Strong Linux system administration experience
• Solid networking knowledge (switching, firewalls, VPNs)
• Experience with scripting (Bash; exposure to C is beneficial)
• Understanding of system security best practices
• Experience with virtualisation technologies
• Ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-system issues

Desirable Skills

• Web development knowledge (PHP, JavaScript, Vue.js)
• Experience with database systems and SQL
• Familiarity with embedded systems (e.g. Raspberry Pi)
• Knowledge of regex, Vim, or VS Code

• 2-5+ years experience in systems/infrastructure roles

• £36,000 - £50,000+ depending on experience
• 40 Hour week, Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £36,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
