Job description
The Telco Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, building, operating, and optimizing cloud-native infrastructure platforms supporting telecom workloads. This role focuses on Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms, storage, GitOps automation, and bare-metal infrastructure tuned for low-latency, carrier-grade environments. Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters in telco-grade environments.
- Build and manage PaaS/CaaS platforms supporting cloud-native network functions (CNFs).
- Implement observability, logging, and alerting across platforms.
- Automate infrastructure and application lifecycle using GitOps and Ansible.
- Provision and tune bare-metal infrastructure for performance and reliability.
Technical Skills & Experience
- PaaS / CaaS (Kubernetes & OpenShift):
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals: Pods, Deployments, Ingress, StorageClasses, PVs, PVCs.
- OpenShift cluster deployment and worker node scaling.
- Cloud-native networking: CNI, Multus, Istio, MetalLB.
- Container registry management (image upload, project setup, role assignments).
- Kubernetes Operators lifecycle management.
- Bare-metal provisioning and firmware management.
- Monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, and Alertmanager (SLO-based alerting).
- Centralized logging with Elasticsearch and Fluentd/Fluent Bit.
Advanced Cluster Management: CSAR package definition and lifecycle management. Helm-based deployment automation. Advanced Kubernetes troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Ceph Storage: Ceph installation on RHEL environments. Ceph/Rook provisioning: RBD, RGW, CephFS. OpenShift Data Foundation integration. GitOps & Automation: GitOps workflows using ArgoCD. Git, Helm, Kustomize, and YAML expertise. Infrastructure automation using Ansible. Infrastructure Build & Optimization: Hardware provisioning using IPMI/Redfish, PXE, BMCs (Dell/HPE). Firmware and BIOS/UEFI tuning for low-latency workloads. RHEL CoreOS and Linux kernel/sysctl tuning. Node Tuning Operator configuration. Linux networking: bridges, VLANs, bonding, MTU tuning. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Strong experience in telecom, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale distributed systems. Hands-on experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift in production environments. Soft Skills Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Ability to work in complex, mission-critical environments. Excellent collaboration and documentation skills.
