Job description

We are looking for talented Systems Engineering graduates to join our engineering team in Bristol. This is not a traditional graduate scheme built around a narrow role. You will work hands-on across the full systems lifecycle, from understanding user needs and concepts of operations (CONOPS) through requirements engineering, system architecture and design, to integration, verification, and validation. You will apply strong Python programming skills to build models, simulations, analysis tools, and automation that support real engineering delivery.

You will collaborate daily with software, hardware, infrastructure, and domain engineering teams, and gain broad exposure to the multidisciplinary challenges of delivering complex, deployable systems. We value adaptability, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Lack of experience in any specific technology is never a barrier if you have the drive to get up to speed quickly.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Designing and developing complex, multi-disciplinary systems that integrate sensors, data feeds, communications, and AI/ML capabilities

  • Building and maintaining systems models, simulations, and analysis tools in Python to support engineering decision-making

  • Translating user needs and operational concepts (CONOPS) into technical requirements, specifications, and system architectures

  • Supporting planning, management, and delivery of engineering work packages using tools such as JIRA

  • Driving systems integration and end-to-end verification and validation to ensure capability works in operational environments

  • Collaborating across software, hardware, networking, and infrastructure teams to deliver coherent system designs

  • Producing clear technical documentation, trade studies, and design review materials

  • Deploying and evaluating machine learning models and data pipelines for edge use cases where appropriate

Requirements

  • BEng or MEng (2:1 or above) in Systems Engineering, Engineering Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related STEM discipline

  • Strong Python programming skills, demonstrated through coursework, projects, or personal work

  • Understanding of systems engineering principles: requirements engineering, system architecture, V&V, and lifecycle management

  • Ability to communicate complex engineering information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and an eagerness to learn new technologies rapidly

  • Teamworking, collaboration, and the ability to share knowledge and challenge constructively in a fast-paced environment

  • Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC). Please note: due to the nature of our work, this role requires security clearance eligibility, i.e. minimum five years of UK residence

  • Right to work in the United Kingdom

DESIRABLE

  • Exposure to machine learning, computer vision, signal processing, or edge computing

  • Understanding of networked systems, C4I architectures, or geospatial/situational awareness applications

  • Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and agile development practices

  • Involvement in engineering projects, hackathons, open-source contributions, or relevant extracurricular activities

  • Existing SC or DV clearance is a distinct advantage

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive salary depending on experience and qualifications

  • Hybrid working model: typically 3 days per week in our Bristol office, with flexibility around project needs

  • Structured graduate development with mentoring from experienced engineers and clear progression milestones

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

  • Opportunity to work on mission-critical systems for defence, national security, and emergency response

Pay: £24,850.59-£69,675.98 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Work from home
