SpotMe provides our members with liquidity when and where they need it so they can still buy groceries, pay for transportation or cover unexpected expenses when money is tight. We're looking for a backend engineer to help build and operate our services that make this possible. You'll join a tight-knit, collaborative team that holds a high bar for quality, learns together and cares deeply about solving real member problems., * Design, develop, test and scale backend APIs and services of new and existing product features
- Collaborate closely with mobile, product, design, risk and data partners to understand member pain points and turn them into simple and reliable solutions
- Proactively identify opportunities for improving the reliability and scalability of our systems
- Work across the engineering team to improve and uphold high technical standards
- Participate in code reviews, on-call rotations and incident follow-ups to grow quickly while helping the team raise the bar on quality and operational excellence
Requirements
- 3+ years developing software in a production environment at scale
- Proven experience with Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks
- Experience working with transactional databases and caching systems
- Exposure to architectural patterns of large, high-scale web applications
- An appreciation of maintainable and well-tested code
- A collaborative, low-ego working style. You enjoy pairing with others, giving and receiving feedback and helping your teammates succeed
- Enjoyment in learning and diving into the deepest levels of how things work
- Start-up experience as an added plus
- A strong product and member mindset. You care about the real people on the other side of the API and are motivated by seeing your work have a positive impact
Benefits & conditions
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $133,000 and up to $184,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience., * Our in-office work policy is designed to keep you connected - with four days a week in the office and Fridays from home for those near one of our offices, plus team and company-wide events depending on location.
