Job description

  • Notify Line Manager of any non-compliances or shortfalls in the effectiveness of procedures and/or staff.
  • Interpret digital images using specialist software to analyze Ultrasonic and Eddy Current data, identifying suspected rail defects to the agreed criteria by applying acquired judgement and knowledge. Thereby providing the immediate identification of potential hazards, raising any such identifications to Superiors and colleagues.
  • Using appropriate checking mechanisms, review track positioning data files and make corrections where required to ensure the efficient and accurate location of all reported suspected rail defects.
  • Classify and priorities images to the agreed individual railway infrastructure specified criteria. On discovery of any potential defect that may jeopardize the integrity of any rail section, consult immediately with Senior Analyst/Line Manager and take instruction of appropriate action.
  • Compare previous and current data sets to the agreed time cycle and to required compliance legislation, applying respective repetition criteria when required.
  • Use Global Positioning System co-ordinates and railway mapping tools to establish to 100% accuracy the route of the Inspection Vehicle, providing reports for its accuracy compared to a predetermined route.
  • Support the update and maintenance of procedural documentation and paper-based systems associated with the role in accordance with the Company's ISO standards.
  • Participate in daily team meetings, showing a willingness to work across multiple data streams and customer markets on a daily/weekly basis.
  • You will from time to time be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager. You are required to follow all Sperry policies and procedures at all times and take account of Sperry guidance.

  • Experience with MS office
