Job description

Summit Technologies, Inc. is seeking a System Administrator for an Army Joint support team located on-site at Hurlburt Field, FL. In this role you will be delivering end-to-end operational support for Mission Battle Lab (MBL), maintaining an existing training lab of DoD command and control systems as well as configuration-managed common client workstations and servers. An active DoD Secret clearance is required., * Provide the expertise to configure and maintain up to seven (7) local servers used to store and share applications, training products, and administrative files.

  • Incorporating Army C2 Systems (AFATDS, TAIS, DCGS-A, GCCS-A for COP/CTP, CPCE, AMDWS) showcasing the full range of simulation capabilities for training audience.
  • Conduct system administration and software maintenance using DoD-approved procedures, including installations, upgrades, patching, and IAVA compliance.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Windows Server administration, tools including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Active Directory management, SQL management, PowerShell scripting, Windows 11 client support.
  • Backup data not less than once every 7-calendar days and shall backup data to external hard drives for evacuation when the Hurlburt Field base commander directs tenet units to prepare for hurricane evacuation operations (typically 48 to 72 hours prior to evacuation).
  • Performs moderately complex systems administration using Department of Defense or commercially recognized systems administration practices and procedures.
  • Performs software installations, upgrades, patches, and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) in accordance with systems security manuals
  • Collects and reviews systems logs to assist in proactive identification of issues that may lead to failure
  • Performs basic troubleshooting and fault isolation
  • Supports moderately complex data/media recovery through system backups and database archive operations
  • Develops and maintains appropriate documentation including systems configuration checklists and historical data
  • Maintains an existing training lab of DoD command and control systems as well as configuration-managed common client workstations
  • Assists facility manager as alternate for the C2 training lab
  • Assists our security manager in ensuring access controls are properly maintained in accordance with military service orders and instructions
  • Assists in training less experienced personnel

Requirements

  • Must either be currently certified to the IAT Level II/Intermediate (Security+) or be capable and willing to earn within three months of employment start date.

  • Configure assigned Army Mission Command Systems for successful communications within a joint air-ground environment

  • Administer Battle Command Common Services Server (BCCS) V 5 or newer.

  • Administer Microsoft Windows 10 or higher workstations

  • Be able to administer Server 2016 servers OR learn how to administer them.

  • Either administer or assist higher skilled systems administrators in administering Windows Server 2012, Server 2016, Server 2019 (or later) on a Dell R420 or similar server platform.

  • Install IAVAs and apply software security patches when directed

  • Configure assigned workstations and servers using DISA published Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)

  • Review, understand, and react to systems logs

  • Document all work using prescribed methods Desired Skills

  • Use Microsoft PowerShell 3.0 (or newer) or command line tools and scripts to administer workstations and servers

  • Hold commercial certifications for Microsoft OS and applications

  • Hold commercial certifications for VMWare, Solaris 10, NAS, Linux Required Commercial Certifications

  • DoD 8140.03 IAT Level II/Intermediate (Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP) Commercial Training Completion: (Either have completed or be willing to complete on their own time)

  • Windows 10 or higher administration

  • Microsoft Server 2016 (or newer) enterprise

  • VMware vSphere Server 5.5 (or newer)

  • Microsoft SQL
