Job description
The Health IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing staff and operations to ensure the secure, stable, and efficient operation of the organization's health IT infrastructure. This includes designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing systems that support healthcare delivery, such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), health information systems, and related applications. The role oversees network and server infrastructure, cybersecurity, data communications, and telehealth platforms, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and interoperability standards. The Manager will also direct activities to resolve hardware and software issues promptly and accurately, with a focus on supporting clinical workflows and patient care., * Supervise health IT staff, prioritize and assign work, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Oversee implementation, maintenance, and optimization of EHR systems (e.g., RPMS, Liberty, NextGen) and other healthcare applications.
- Develop and enforce infrastructure policies and procedures that align with healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, HITECH).
- Negotiate with vendors and contractors for health IT products and services, including EHR and telehealth solutions.
- Prepare RFPs, contracts, and scope of work documents for health IT infrastructure projects.
- Develop short- and long-term plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets current and future healthcare requirements.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure health IT systems support patient care and operational goals.
- Implement cybersecurity measures and physical security protocols for health data protection.
- Manage and set priorities for design, maintenance, and evaluation of health IT systems, including networks, servers, and telehealth platforms.
- Conduct feasibility studies for EHR upgrades, migrations, and interoperability improvements.
- Define hardware and software standards for health IT systems and ensure compliance with interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR).
- Monitor system performance and generate reports for health IT infrastructure, including EHR uptime and data integrity.
- Manage operational costs and forecast budgets for health IT initiatives.
- Maintain regular communication with leadership and stakeholders regarding health IT activities and progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the HSD and/or IT Executive Director or management.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Technical troubleshooting support?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Strong knowledge of EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, NextGen, or similar) and healthcare software platforms.
- Familiarity with interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and health data exchange protocols.
- Understanding of telehealth technologies and health information security best practices.
- Healthcare IT infrastructure and EHR systems (RPMS, NextGen).
- Enterprise virtualization technologies (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V).
- Microsoft Server OS and hybrid Active Directory environments.
- Microsoft 365 services for healthcare collaboration.
- Storage systems (Pure Storage, EMC/Dell Storage) and health data management.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulatory requirements, health data security, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Disaster recovery and health data backup procedures.
- Project management principles for health IT initiatives.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with clinical staff, IT teams, and external partners.
- Analytical skills to troubleshoot health IT infrastructure and EHR-related issues.
- Ability to manage multiple health IT projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Project.
- Understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare compliance requirements.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills for interaction with clinical staff, IT teams, and external partners.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot health IT issues., Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or related field; with eight (8) years of relevant work experience, including three to five (3-5) years managing health IT infrastructure and EHR systems.
- Certified in Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Experience with Native American populations and bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Experience with EHR systems such as RPMS and NextGen is required.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
- Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card or be able to obtain one within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain the current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination from this position.
- Must be available for flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
