Job description

This position will serve as the CYYAD lead for the Center Education and Career Opportunities (CECO) secondary program, which is located on the campus of Shoreline Community College. This position will support the secondary social service professionals, administrative staff, and partners within the CECO secondary program to meet the performance outcomes and program expectations. CECO is a "to and through post-secondary" open doors program serving students who have dropped out of high school, between the ages of 16 and 21.

This position will work with the secondary side of the program, which will be focused on students persisting through their secondary credentials and transitioning to their post-secondary journey that leads to a family supporting wage and/or further education. This position will oversee CECO Secondary, in areas of recruitment for the whole program, work with administrative staff to enroll students into the program, support the secondary classroom, stabilization aspect of the program work with case managers to advise students, make sure they are on pace to graduate, have access to internships and support services as well as provide case management support for participants, while facilitating the case management support of other participants.

This position will be deeply embedded in the working of the College, broader King County, and it will be mandatory that they know the processes and policies, from FERPA to the faculty contracts for secondary teachers, as well as making sure programming is aligned with KC and State Open Doors requirements.

This position will report to the CECO Site Director., WORK SCHEDULE/LOCATION/CONDITIONS: This is a Special Duty Assignment (SDA) or Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position anticipated to end 18 months from the start date, but subject to change dependent on operational need. This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. The primary on-site location is Shoreline Community College - FIVE DAYS PER WEEK. This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre-approval. This position is represented by PSEU., + Work collaboratively with the Shoreline Community College, King County, OSPI, and the Site Director to ensure that all grants, state and local requirements, and program needs are met

  • In partnership with the CECO Site Director, the SSP senior for the post-secondary side assists in the recruitment efforts of youth/young adults for the program.
  • Assist the administrative team in enrolling, registering, and processing students for CECO programming in both secondary and post-secondary programming
  • Provide case management support to participants, which includes assessment, development of individual service plans with short-term and long-term goals, and monitoring the plan with the young person. Assisting with transition to post-secondary and creating a plan to do so, and training new staff.
  • Oversee the case management of other participants in the CECO secondary program and provide support and leadership to their social service professionals as needed.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with youth/young adults ages 16-21 years who have multiple barriers to success.
  • Document case notes and maintain participant records in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Meet performance-based outcomes per the CYYAD contracts with WIOA, DVR, Shoreline Community College, and state agencies.
  • Complete required paperwork for the program that may be related to participant eligibility, activities, demographics, work-based learning, and outcome attainment. Support other social service professionals to complete paperwork.
  • Assist in enrolling students into internships and apprenticeships

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work, education, or related field, and at least two years' recent experience providing direct multi-level social services to youth and young adults aged 16-24 years. Recent is defined as within the last five years.

  • Relevant experience can be substituted for education as long as it is clearly demonstrated that experience will allow the candidate to meet the above requirements/job duties.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform job duties within the context of understanding and applying complex regulations and definitions; and experience providing complete, extensive technical documentation as well as supporting others to complete technical documentation (paperwork, eligibility).

  • Experience using CTC link, Canvas, LCN 2.0, Cognito, and WTP or related software.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a diverse population of youth and young adults, employers, other staff, community and technical colleges, and community-based organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience developing outreach strategies as needed to effectively recruit youth and ensure enrollment goals are achieved.

  • Ability to assist youth/young adults in meeting goals and securing quality employment, and supporting other staff to assist youth/young adults to meet goals.

  • Ability to effectively manage time to work on multiple tasks in a high-pressure/short-deadline environment, and to adapt to changes in workload demand and priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal and human relations skills, including conflict resolution techniques.

  • Effective oral communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with youth and employees from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Proficiency in the use of computers, with working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and the Internet.

  • Valid Washington State Driver's License.

  • Ability to pass a Washington State Patrol Background check.
