Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a MBSE/Test Engineer with strong experience supporting software-intensive systems using traditional systems engineering best practices and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). This role focuses on disciplined requirements development, end-to-end traceability, and rigorous verification and validation (V&V) to ensure system integrity across complex, mission-critical solutions. The ideal candidate brings a structured engineering mindset and hands-on CAMEO modeling experience., * Lead system requirements development and decomposition from high-level concepts to detailed software component specifications.

  • Establish and maintain bidirectional requirements traceability across system, software, and test artifacts.
  • Develop and manage system models using CAMEO to support architecture definition, interfaces, and behavioral modeling.
  • Define and execute verification and validation (V&V) strategies, including test planning, procedures, and success criteria.
  • Ensure alignment between requirements, architecture, and implementation across the full system lifecycle.
  • Support system design reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR with clear technical artifacts and rationale.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and integration teams to ensure system coherence and technical consistency.
  • Manage configuration control and change management for system engineering artifacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering for software-centric or software-intensive systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in: o Requirements decomposition and management
  • Experience with C++ programming
  • Requirements traceability (tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent)
  • Verification & Validation (V&V) planning and execution
  • Hands-on experience with CAMEO (or similar MBSE tools) for modeling
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts

Preferred:

  • Experience applying MBSE practices in production or mission environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid software development methodologies.
  • Experience supporting large-scale, complex, or mission-critical systems.
  • Knowledge of interface control and integration challenges in distributed systems.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline.
