Job description

The Assistive Technology Specialist is responsible for assessing, assembling, recommending, and providing training and support for assistive technologies to individuals with disabilities to increase their independence. Working within a Center for Independent Living (CIL), the AT Specialist plays a vital role in promoting access to technology and empowering individuals to live independently.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Microsoft Teams?, * Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This requirement can be waived when the employer identifies unusual experience and aptitude for the position based upon life experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with assistive technology devices and software.
  • Familiarity with CIL Suite or similar database management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Within one year in the position, employees must acquire a thorough understanding of the Independent Living Movement, its philosophy, principles, and values and the ability to communicate these to others.
  • A strong aptitude for using computer-based information sources.
