Job description

We are seeking an experienced IT Technician II to support our Navy customer in the Norfolk, VA area. In this role, you will assist with new installations and/or life cycle upgrades for shipboard ADP/IT networks and equipment, providing shipboard training to crew members as necessary for LAN and IT Equipment operation. You will provide general infrastructure support, by responding to and updating trouble calls utilizing REMEDY. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform or assist with new installations and/or life cycle upgrades for shipboard ADP IT networks and equipment.
  • Provide shipboard training to crew members as necessary for LAN and IT Equipment operation.
  • Interface and coordinate daily regarding planned activities with customer representatives, shipboard personnel, and other contractors providing specialized LAN or network communications support.
  • Perform break-fix troubleshooting and analysis of problems
  • Perform repair activities for return equipment, systems or networks to normal operational status.
  • Prepare and provide daily work reports.
  • Respond to queries for ad hoc data and network configuration and inventory reports.

Requirements

  • Must possess IAT II, in coordination of IAWF DoD 8570.01M.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an operating system certification that correlates to systems installed onboard Navy vessels.
  • 5+ years of Progressive IT experience.
  • Windows Server (2008r2/2012/2016) /desktop Operating Systems (7/10).
  • Virtualization technologies like VMWare Server/ESX or Microsoft Hyper-V/Virtual Server.
  • Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange (2007/2010/2016).
  • Migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016.
  • Active Directory/LDAP user and group administration.
  • LAN Routing and Switching configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Server builds using server 2008r2 preferred 2016.
  • Cat5/fiber cable and connector experience.
  • Must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 60% to support mission requirements.
