Job description

The Network Administrator (Senior-Level) will be responsible for supporting the Army Research Laboratory in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This position will require a deep understanding of enterprise network architecture, Layer 2/3 switching, routing protocols, and network security standards. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, performance, and security of the network infrastructure in accordance with DoD and ARL IT policies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage network performance and proactively maintain security protocols.

  • Configure, install, and maintain Layer 2/3 switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, encryption devices, and telecommunication systems.

  • Troubleshoot complex network issues across a variety of devices and configurations.

  • Implement and enforce information security procedures in compliance with organizational policies.

  • Configure routing protocols, including OSPF and BGP, and manage both IPv4/IPv6 based networks.

  • Set up and manage IPSec tunnels, 802.1x, and 802.11 LAN/MAN environments.

  • Define and enforce network policies, procedures, and performance standards.

  • Train users in network operations and best practices.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret Clearance.

  • Ten (10+) years of relevant experience or a BA/BS Degree with two (2+) years of experience in an IT enterprise network engineering role.

  • Five (5) years of Cisco Identity Services Engine(Cisco ISE) experience.

  • IAT Level II Certification equivalent or higher per DoD 8570/DoD 8140 (CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, etc.).

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certified.

  • Proven leadership in managing complex network environments, including DoD networks.

  • Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), security standards (802.1X, 802.11, MAC bridging), and media access control systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in network segmentation, traffic management, and secure network architecture design.

  • In-depth knowledge of network tools, monitoring platforms, and documentation best practices.

  • Ability to plan and implement large-scale network configurations and upgrades while minimizing downtime.

Preferred:

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v4 certification

  • Experience with incident management within the ServiceNow Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) platform.

  • Familiarity with NIST, STIG, RMF, and Federal Information Systems Controls.

  • Working knowledge of hardware configuration management tools and logistics tracking systems.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Experience creating and modifying documentation for technical processes and procedures.

  • Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.

  • A problem solver and troubleshooter who thrives in resolving complex problems.

  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Salary Range: $62,000 - $104,000

Several factors influence the final salary or hourly rate, including but not limited to contract wage determinations, relevant work experience, role-specific skills and competencies, geographic location, educational background, certifications, and federal government contract labor categories.
