Job description

This dynamic team is driven by a collaborative culture that emphasizes innovation, agility, and the pursuit of excellence in technology solutions. The mission of the Unified Storage team is to enhance the DataHub platform by integrating intelligent, AI-driven capabilities that empower users to seamlessly discover, understand, and interact with data through natural language processing.

You will report to the SVP NCM, GM Unified Storage, who fosters a leadership style characterized by empowerment, open communication, and a strong focus on team collaboration. The work setup for this role is hybrid, requiring in-office presence three days a week to facilitate close interaction with team members and cross-functional collaboration.

There are no travel requirements for this role, allowing the selected candidate to focus on developing NLP-driven features in a stable work environment while fully contributing to the team's mission from the San Jose office.

Your Role

  • Design and develop NLP/LLM-powered features to enhance the DataHub platform.
  • Implement advanced techniques for semantic search, metadata enrichment, and data exploration interfaces.
  • Build and optimize models for text classification, clustering, and knowledge graph construction.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and backend teams to develop data ingestion and API integration workflows.
  • Integrate LLMs into production environments, utilizing prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation methods.
  • Evaluate and iterate on model performance using offline and online metrics.
  • Take a leadership role in mentoring junior team members and promoting best practices in NLP development.
  • Drive strategic initiatives focused on data quality and governance within AI features of the platform.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master's in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in NLP or applied ML (industry or research)
  • Strong understanding of Transformers (GPT, Llama, etc.) and embeddings
  • Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
  • Experience with NLP libraries (Hugging Face, spaCy, NLTK)
  • Familiarity with large-scale data processing and search systems (Elasticsearch, vector DBs)
  • Knowledge of knowledge graphs and ontologies
  • Experience with RAG architectures and evaluation of LLM outputs

Benefits & conditions

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $240,000 and USD $480,000 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
