Job description

The Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial component of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan missile defense operations systematically, monitor the battle collectively, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission goals. C2BMC enables layered missile defense capabilities that provide an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and regionally to enhance performance. C2BMC is vital for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

The selected candidate will join a team responsible for daily system monitoring, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the C2BMC-G suite within a 24x7 operational and test environment that supports Space Domain Awareness and Space Defense missions. As a subject-matter expert on C2BMC applications, the incumbent will provide Level 2 troubleshooting, break/fix solutions, and preventive maintenance support, regularly interacting with remote C2BMC sites and various leadership levels within the C2BMC Command Center. All events and issues must be documented and reported to leadership. The candidate will receive tasks and instructions from leadership for operational, test, and real-world events and will assist the local ISSO with user account maintenance as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsibilities include operating and maintaining C2BMC-G mission and training systems that support the Missile Defense Integration & Operations Center (MDIOC)
  • The position is usually Monday through Friday, but may require on-call, evening, and weekend support during system issues or testing
  • Periodic shift work might be necessary to ensure coverage during staffing shortages
  • Generally has 5 or more years of relevant experience and may hold a post-secondary degree or training in a related field
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as needed

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

  • Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, SecurityX, CCNA Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CASP+ CE, CISSP, CCNA-Security, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the eligibility to be read onto SCI/SAP
  • Sound background and experience with operations and maintenance of large-scale computer and communications systems/networking environments
  • Experience in system and/or network administration that includes the following (UNIX, Linux, and Windows)
  • Experience in troubleshooting hardware and software components
  • Experienced in data flow usage and ability to troubleshoot with internal and external agencies to establish network connectivity
  • Background in root cause resolution and analysis within Linux and Windows systems
  • Experience with Nutanix hypervisors, virtual machines, and cluster management
