Job description
This position will support the Sentinel Program's Command and Control (C2) Hardware Systems Engineering team. As a hardware systems engineer, this position will help rigorously design and document the hardware architecture, components, interfaces, and performance of the C2 system.
- Develop hardware Trade Studies, Analyses of Alternatives, and Design Specifications to help finalize the C2 technical baseline leading up to the Sentinel Critical Design Review campaign
- Work closely with a team of Systems Engineers and Hardware Engineers, applying Agile execution methodologies
- Help resolve complex requirements challenges resulting from a many-tiered Specification Tree that must comply and is subject to several federal regulatory organizations within the defense base
- Responsible for coordinating with Engineering teams across the Command Systems Segment at all levels of the spec tree to identify and resolve driving requirements and architecture maturity down to the hardware product level
- Responsible for leading complex negotiations with Hardware stakeholders in the areas of Cybersecurity, Nuclear Safety, and Software Engineering
Requirements
This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).
Required for both levels:
- Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need?, * Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, 1 year with a PhD
- 1 year of experience with requirements analysis and specification development
- 1 year of experience using Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools
- 1 year of experience with multi-disciplinary engineering development, including Software, Hardware, and Systems Engineering, * Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 Years of related experience; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
- Experience with and desire to mentor junior engineers
- Experience with large scale aerospace/defense projects
- 4 years of experience in System Engineering (SE) process, including 'V' Model and experience across multiple levels of integration
- Experience using IBM Rational DOORS to manage requirements
- Experience analyzing MBSE diagrams using Cameo, especially
- SysML and/or DoDAF diagrams related to system and component interface definition
- Experience writing design specifications for Hardware, Electrical, and Electronic components
- Experience with Agile execution principles and tools, including Scrum, Kanban, and Jira, * Current Sentinel PAR access
- 4 years of experience in System Engineering (SE) process, including 'V' Model and experience across multiple levels of integration
- 2 years of experience with requirements analysis and specification development
- 2 years of experience using Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools
- 1 year of experience with multi-disciplinary engineering development, including Software, Hardware, and Systems Engineering
- Experience using IBM Rational DOORS to manage requirements
- Experience analyzing MBSE diagrams using Cameo, especially SysML and/or DoDAF diagrams related to system and component interface definition
- Experience with and desire to mentor junior engineers
- Experience with large scale aerospace/defense projects
- Experience applying Military/DoD and ASME standards to product design
- Previous experience being a Scrum Master (SM) and/or Product Owner (PO)

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
