Job description
Under general supervision, assists with stormwater program activities including GIS data management, mapping, and stormwater plan reviews. This position supports analysis of drainage systems, maintains stormwater-related GIS data, and assists staff with technical reviews to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Duties for this Position
- Assists with GIS-related tasks including data indexing, data entry, map creation,and basic spatial analysis.
- Maintains and updates stormwater GIS layers, databases, and mapping products.
- Assists with the review of stormwater management plans, drainage plans, andsupporting documents for compliance with County standards and requirements.
- Reviews plans for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with approved designcriteria.
- Provides technical support to stormwater staff related to GIS mapping and dataneeds.
- Assists with field data collection and verification to support GIS accuracy, asneeded.
- Responds to internal and external inquiries related to stormwater data and planreviews.
- Performs other related duties in support of the Stormwater program.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with coursework or experience in GIS, engineering technology, environmental science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with GIS software preferred.
- Valid South Carolina driver's license.
- Ability to pass required pre-employment physical and background check., + Basic knowledge of stormwater systems, drainage infrastructure, and stormwatermanagement principles.
- Working knowledge of GIS software and mapping concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret stormwater and drainage plans.
- Ability to organize, index, and maintain technical data and records.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in plans or data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
