Job description
As a GIS Specialist, this position will be instrumental in managing our comprehensive GIS database covering all electrical assets. This role requires a deep understanding of GIS integration across multiple departments including Accounting, Billing, Outage Management, Engineering, and fiber mapping software., 99. Update system maps from staking sheets, redlines/as builts, engineering drawings and field staff documentation using Corporation specified software, assuring complete and accurate transfer of data to both maps and asset databases.

Maintain and assure quality and integrity of mapping systems and data, providing current version availability to all ESRI and Futura software users in the corporation.

Assure data is updated and shared between SEDC, DataVoice, and Futura

Publish maps and data weekly for accurate Outage Analysis program usage.

Periodically maintain and configure Futura map viewer and staking software.

Digitize, insert, and update land base into ESRI distribution maps, from preliminary plats or electronic files provided by staking, planning or developers using AutoCAD / ESRI.

Prepares presentation quality maps and associated data in any necessary format for use within other departments.

Assist the engineering and planning department in the development of long and short-range work plans by providing the necessary mapping support for those plans.

Respond to special engineering data retrieval requests.

Assist consultants and software vendors with configuration, installation, testing and updating of custom software applications used for mapping and staking.

Perform complex file conversions in order to utilize multiple mapping software applications.

Responsible for annual update of city limit additions and deletions and franchise information yearly for franchise tax billing.

Provide guidance and assistance to GSP personnel and contractors including training for procedure implementation and changes.
Requirements

Degree or Certification in GIS, geosciences, computer science or related field preferred, but not required. May substitute a technical degree or an ongoing study program in Geography, Cartography, Planning or Design.

Three years' work experience in a GIS role in a utility or similar field is required.

Prefer mapping, surveying, geography or drafting background.

A thorough knowledge of AutoCAD Map and ESRI is required.

Requires a working knowledge of Windows operating systems.

Knowledge of electrical distribution and utility construction is preferred.

Database management skills are required.

Ability to write SQL queries and perform data manipulation tasks.

Demonstrated knowledge of Partner Map Translator and the interaction with other programs utilized by this section.

Must satisfactorily pass GreyStone's employment physical and required drug screens.
Physical Demands (if applicable):
Normal office conditions. Requires the flexibility and ability to work during disaster situations. Continuous use of Personal Computers requires intensive hand-eye coordination and the ability to maintain a high degree of attention to detail and concentration for extended periods of time.
