Join LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech company, as a VoIP Engineer and contribute to the testing and evaluation of cutting-edge FAA communication systems. In this role, you will support formal testing activities under the supervision of senior engineers, helping to validate the performance and reliability of ground-to-ground voice and data communications systems. You will gain hands-on experience with a variety of testing tools, methodologies, and network environments.

- Support FAA formal system and software testing activities as part of a cross-functional engineering team testing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems.
- Assist in developing and executing test plans, procedures, and documentation, review and comment on contractor delivered test plans and test procedures, witness testing verifying system requirements.
- Design and/or perform testing of electrical and IP-based voice communication systems using industry tools such as Wireshark, LabVIEW, and GL Communications (e.g., MAPS, VQT, VQUAD).
- Conduct and report on environmental and power testing (e.g., MIL-STD-810, EMI/EMC, inrush current, total harmonic distortion).
- Apply knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 networking principles in configuring and testing systems.
- Perform basic Linux commands to aid in system setup and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Cisco switch configuration and operation in support of testing.
- Support defect tracking, retesting, and test reporting processes.
- Participate in site testing and evaluations at FAA/vendor facilities as needed.
Requirements

Python programming experience or other relative software development experience.

Knowledge of IP4 and IPv6 networking principles

Hands on experience with test equipment, including at least one of the following: spectrum analyzers, signal generators, transmission impairment measurement sets, oscilloscopes and communication system analyzers/testers.

Ground to ground telephony experience. Nice to Have:

Ground to ground telephony experience.

General awareness of EUROCAE ED-137C and ED-138 standards, and their applicability to the specification, design, development, and test of FAA NAS IP voice communication systems.

Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW software for test application development.

Basic Linux commands.

Network impairment testing and reporting.

GL comm application experience (e.g., MAPS, Voice Quality Test (VQT), VQUAD).

Knowledge and experience with Cisco switch configurations and operations.

Test and Evaluation experience; experience in the development and use of: test plans, test procedures, test conduct and test reporting.

Debugging with Wireshark or equivalent.

- Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations or maintenance.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms.
- Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.
- Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.
