Job description

The Exchange Email Administrator supports the design, implementation, and day-to-day operations of enterprise email and messaging services in a federal IT environment. The role focuses on maintaining highly available, secure Exchange services integrated with Active Directory, Office 365, and Azure to meet mission and business needs.

Working as part of an infrastructure operations team, this position troubleshoots messaging issues, manages patching and upgrades, and ensures adherence to security and compliance requirements. The administrator will regularly collaborate with stakeholders and follow established procedures while operating in a hybrid on-site environment across multiple locations., * Design, plan, implement, and manage Microsoft Exchange services in an enterprise environment, ensuring availability, performance, and security.

  • Administer and maintain Active Directory in support of messaging, including account, group, and policy configurations needed for email operations and access control.
  • Manage SMTP relays and associated configurations to maintain security compliance and reliable mail flow across internal and external domains.
  • Support day-to-day operations of the enterprise email system across multiple network enclaves, including ticket intake, triage, incident resolution, and on-site support as required.
  • Maintain and update Exchange and related systems, including Active Directory, Office 365, Azure components, and spam/content filtering solutions.
  • Monitor messaging traffic, perform message tracking and mailbox recovery, and complete detailed documentation of all actions taken.
  • Apply Microsoft updates and patches to Exchange, AD, and related infrastructure in accordance with change management procedures and security policies.
  • Maintain and update enterprise disaster recovery documentation for Exchange and Active Directory, including backup, restore, and continuity procedures., Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience consistent with a Network Administrator II professional role.
  • Minimum 5 years of Microsoft Exchange 2010 or later administration experience, including at least 1 year within the past 2 years.
  • Minimum 5 years of Active Directory administration experience, including at least 1 year within the past 2 years.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience using Microsoft PowerShell for Exchange administration and automation.
  • Active Secret clearance (or the ability to obtain and maintain Secret) and eligibility for IT-I Critical Sensitive designation.
  • IAT Level II certification (Security+ or higher) and at least one qualifying Computing Environment certification (such as MCSE 2016, MCSA: Windows Server 2016, MCA: Exchange Server, Microsoft 365/Azure administrator certification, or equivalent approved CE).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to follow complex operational procedures., * Experience supporting email and directory services in a federal IT environment or other highly regulated enterprise.
  • Prior experience operating Exchange and messaging services across multiple security enclaves or segmented networks.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure AD, Office 365 hybrid deployments, and modern spam/content filtering platforms.
