Job description
The IT Specialist II responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Participate in developing solutions for infrastructure systems, conduct Proof of Concept Testing
- Provide subject matter expertise (SME) support on Windows, VMware, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and storage subsystems
- Administer the Automation Platform and Enterprise Storage Systems
- Install, configure, patch, and monitor storage systems
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.

- Knowledge and experience with Information Technology Infrastructure, hardware, and software in a datacenter environment
- Working knowledge in Windows Servers, Linux Servers, Virtualization, Storage Systems, Backup/Restore, and Disaster Recovery
- Experience managing Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Arrays, and Active Directory / LDAP, DNS, DHCP
- Knowledge and experience with Ansible Automation Platform, scripting, patch management, and cloud computing
- Experience with IT Procurement, adherence to organizational policies and procedures, leadership skills, verbal and written communication
