Job description
Northramp is seeking an experienced Senior Multi-Cloud Architect to lead the design, delivery, and governance of secure, scalable, and cost-aware cloud platforms across a complex federal enterprise. The ideal candidate operates comfortably at the intersection of enterprise architecture, applied cloud engineering, and executive advisory services.
This role requires independent leadership of multi-cloud architecture workstreams, deep technical judgment across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, and the ability to translate advanced technical solutions into durable enterprise platforms that support mission-driven research, analytics, and health care use cases. The architect serves as a trusted technical advisor to senior stakeholders, drives standardization without stifling innovation, and ensures cloud environments remain secure, compliant, and financially sustainable.
The architect will lead end-to-end cloud platform strategy, manage day-to-day technical engagements, coordinate across engineering, security, and governance teams, and deliver high-quality architectural artifacts that enable rapid adoption while reducing long-term operational risk.
Key Responsibilities
Multi-Cloud Architecture & Platform Engineering
-
Design and implement enterprise-scale cloud architectures across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, data analytics, and research workloads.
-
Establish standardized reference architectures and reusable platform patterns that accelerate delivery while reducing architectural variance across teams.
-
Architect secure landing zones, shared services, and multi-account or multi-project environments aligned to federal security and compliance expectations.
-
Provide technical leadership on hybrid and multi-cloud integration strategies, including networking, identity federation, and data access patterns.
Infrastructure Automation & DevOps
-
Lead the development of Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, and GitOps workflows to enforce consistency, security, and policy compliance.
-
Implement automated provisioning, configuration management, and environment lifecycle controls across multi-cloud estates.
-
Integrate CI/CD pipelines with security scanning, policy enforcement, and approval workflows suitable for regulated environments.
Cloud Governance, Security & Cost Optimization
-
Architect and deploy governance frameworks, including guardrails, policy-as-code, and automated enforcement mechanisms across cloud environments.
-
Design FinOps-aligned architectures that incorporate budget controls, cost visibility, and automated spend mitigation strategies.
-
Implement proactive controls such as service restrictions, intelligent resource shutdown, and environment-level cost containment mechanisms.
Enterprise Architecture & Technical Advisor
-
Serve as a senior technical advisor to leadership, providing architecture recommendations that balance mission needs, risk, and budget constraints.
-
Develop enterprise architecture artifacts including target-state architectures, roadmaps, decision memos, and technical standards.
-
Lead technical reviews and architecture boards, guiding teams toward scalable and supportable solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
-
Lead technical discussions with researchers, engineers, security teams, and executive stakeholders to align cloud strategy with organizational objectives.
-
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, decision-oriented guidance for non-technical audiences.
-
Coordinate effectively across internal teams and vendor partners to ensure architectural alignment and delivery quality.
Requirements
-
Active Public Trust Clearance
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related experience.
-
10+ years of experience in cloud architecture, enterprise IT, or platform engineering roles
-
Certified architect-level expertise within one major (AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure) CSP
-
Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, cloud security, and governance frameworks
-
Proven ability to lead architecture strategy in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience expanding scope and technical offerings under existing contracts
-
Background supporting large-scale research, analytics, or government organizations
Clearance
Active Public Trust required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive systems.
