Job description

We are seeking a high-caliber AVD Engineer to lead the architecture, automation, and optimization of our enterprise cloud desktop environment. This role is designed for a technical specialist who excels at the intersection of Azure Infrastructure, Nerdio automation, and PowerShell scripting. You will be responsible for delivering a high-performance, cost-effective virtual desktop experience for a large-scale user base.

Core Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Engineering: Architect and deploy scalable AVD host pools using ARM/Bicep templates and automated provisioning workflows.
  • Nerdio Orchestration: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Nerdio Manager for Enterprise, leveraging it for advanced auto-scaling, image lifecycle management, and global cost optimization.
  • User Profile Optimization: Design and troubleshoot complex FSLogix Profile and ODFC containers to ensure seamless, persistent user experiences and rapid logon times.
  • Advanced Automation: Build and maintain a robust library of PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks, software deployments, and system health checks.
  • Tier 3 Technical Lead: Act as the final escalation point for complex VDI performance issues, profile corruption, and connectivity challenges within an ITIL-aligned framework (ServiceNow).
  • Image Management: Engineer and harden "Golden Images" (Windows 10/11 Multi-session) and manage versioning via Azure Compute Gallery.

Requirements

  • Expertise: 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience, with at least 3 years of dedicated Azure/AVD focus.
  • Core Stack: Proven, hands-on experience with Nerdio Manager for Enterprise and FSLogix is strictly required.
  • Scripting: Advanced proficiency in PowerShell for enterprise-level automation and infrastructure management.
  • Networking: Strong understanding of Azure Virtual Networking (VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints) and Entra ID (Azure AD) identity integration.
  • Process: Experience working within an ITIL environment and utilizing ServiceNow for incident and change management.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between deep technical execution and executive-level updates.
