This position is available for remote work exclusively to candidates who are experienced, mostly self sufficient, and are capable of working independently with minimal supervision. For others, it's hybrid or local. This will be determined during the interview process.
Our relay settings group provides entire spectrum of services from standard development and relay testing to full cycle major brown field projects. Majority of the responsibilities will include producing relay settings for variety of assets, providing training, assisting with NERC compliance and standards.
Entry/Junior level is welcome given at least some of the experience listed below and / or demonstrated track record of success is presented (GPA, successful projects, etc.)
More experienced protection and relay settings engineers in this role are expected to have an expertise for at least 2 to 5 years for majority of the following:
- Experience producing relay settings for variety of line relay setting philosophies: Ground and Phase overcurrent coordination (TCC), step distance, line differential, and pilot schemes (POTT, DCB, etc.)
- Direct experience with configuring and providing relay settings for SEL (accelerator) and GE (EnerVista). Experience with other type of relays (Bassler, ABB, Siemens etc.) preferred but not required.
- Short circuit software such as CAPE and/or Aspen: Setup LZOP, CT, PT, Relay and conduct coordination study.
- PRC023, PRC026, PRC-027
Highly preferred;
- Ability to read, understand, edit and develop variety of custom logic (.rdb).
- Experience with variety of other assets: Bus protection, Transformer protection, Cap bank, reactor protection etc.
- Ability to develop protection and control drawings such as one lines, relay and control schematics
- PRC/ NERC / FERC compliance
Additional experience that would be a plus but not required as follows:
- SCADA Programming, HMI, Automation, RTAC, Orion LX /Novatech, DNP and other protocols
- Network Switch
- 61850 Goose messaging
