Job description
- Deploy, commission and turn up Ciena 6500 Optical Line Systems within live AWS data center environments
- Read and interpret Signal Flow Drawings for accurate fiber routing and system builds
- Troubleshoot optical layer issues - insertion loss, ORL, reflections, power deviations, mis-fibering
- Perform professional fiber cleaning and end-face inspection using industry-standard scoping tools
- Use optical power meters, VFLs, and OTDRs for fault isolation, trace analysis, and performance validation
- Work within AWS automation platforms and workflow tools for deployment tracking and task execution
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Optical Line Systems (OLS) - Ciena 6500 / Metro 6500 preferred
- Proven ability to read and execute from Signal Flow and optical network diagrams
- Solid understanding of optical troubleshooting - loss budgets, ORL, reflections, power levels
- Proficiency with OTDRs, optical power meters, and VFLs
- Strong aptitude for learning new platforms and automation workflows quickly and independently
- Ability to perform under pressure in a mission-critical, fast-paced data center environment
- Must be local to Ashburn, VA
