Job description
The Senior UI/UX Designer II is a design leader responsible for solving complex, multi-layered problems through research-driven, systems-oriented experience design. This role operates beyond visual interface creation - leading end-to-end user discovery, journey mapping, and workflow translation in complex, multi-stakeholder clinical and operational environments.
The Senior UI/UX Designer II defines experience strategy before visual execution, ensuring solutions address root causes rather than surface-level interface issues. They translate clinical and operational workflows into clear experience architectures, service blueprints, and scalable interaction models grounded in real user behavior.
This role mentors team members in UX methodologies, champions research rigor, and guides the maturation of a design culture centered on measurable user outcomes. While capable of delivering polished UI work, this leader prioritizes journey coherence, usability validation, and systems thinking across the product ecosystem., * Lead end-to-end user research initiatives, including interviews, contextual inquiry, workflow observation, journey mapping, usability validation, and synthesis of findings in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Translate clinical and operational workflows into clear experience architectures, service blueprints, interaction models, and user journey maps grounded in real-world behaviors.
- Define clear problem statements, experience principles, and success criteria prior to visual design, ensuring solutions address systemic friction points rather than isolated UI symptoms.
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative research insights into actionable recommendations that shape product strategy, prioritization, and roadmap decisions.
- Identify unmet user needs, workflow inefficiencies, and cognitive load challenges within regulated and high-complexity domains.
- Establish research frameworks and reusable discovery practices that elevate UX maturity across teams.
- Interaction & Interface Design
- Lead design initiatives, collaborating closely with Product Management, Engineering, QA, and end users to deliver cohesive, user-centered solutions.
- Rapidly iterate wireframes, prototypes, and interaction models based on feedback and usability findings.
- Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including journey maps, personas, user flows, service blueprints, prototypes, accessibility considerations, and rationale artifacts.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality design solutions that balance usability, accessibility, technical feasibility, and business objectives.
- Develop responsive experiences across web and mobile, applying mobile-first and accessibility best practices when appropriate.
- Design Systems & Organizational Influence
- Advocate for and contribute to pattern libraries and design systems, ensuring consistency and scalability across products.
- Act as a subject matter expert on experience standards, ensuring alignment between user needs, business goals, and engineering constraints.
- Gather, measure, and analyze UX metrics to evaluate and continuously improve experience effectiveness.
- Champion accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and inclusive design principles.
- Mentor designers and cross-functional partners in research practices, systems thinking, and experience-first design methodologies.
- Purposefully contribute to building a mature, research-driven design culture within the organization.

- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Design, Interaction Design, Service Design, Psychology, or related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience designing user-centered applications for web and mobile platforms.
- Demonstrated experience leading user research initiatives and translating findings into structured experience strategies.
- Experience applying UX methodologies such as contextual inquiry, persona development, usability testing, wireframing, prototyping, and heuristic evaluation.
- Demonstrated and documented proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar platforms.
- Experience working in cross-functional agile environments (Design, Product, Engineering).
- Experience contributing to and evolving design systems., * Experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative usability research in complex or regulated environments.
- Experience designing accessible and inclusive experiences aligned with WCAG standards.
- Strong portfolio showcasing research process, systems thinking, journey design, and problem framing - in addition to polished UI work.
- Proven ability to create journey maps, service blueprints, workflow diagrams, and interaction architectures for complex systems.
- Experience designing workflow-heavy enterprise applications or SaaS platforms.
- Working knowledge of clinical trial processes, healthcare workflows, or medical informatics.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (semantic HTML, CSS/Sass, JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue) sufficient to collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
- Experience defining UX success metrics and connecting design improvements to business outcomes.
