System Engineer IT

As a System Engineer, you implement, manage and optimise Alfen's hybrid IT environments, covering both on-premises systems and cloud platforms. You collaborate with platform teams, security, networking and external vendors to deliver stable, secure and future-proof IT services., * Manage and optimise Windows/Linux servers, storage, backups and virtualisation platforms (VMware/Hyper-V).

• Perform patching, security updates, lifecycle upgrades and performance monitoring.
• Ensure high availability, stability and performance across hybrid infrastructures (Azure + on-prem).
• Monitor capacity, availability and cloud cost efficiency.

Cloud, Automation & Hybrid Environment Enablement

• Implement and manage cloud solutions (Azure, Microsoft 365, AWS).
• Support hybrid identity, cloud migrations and platform integrations.
• Develop automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI and GitOps practices.
• Support container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes and AKS.

Network, Security & IAM Enablement

• Maintain network infrastructure (Cisco & Azure), firewalls, routing, switching and VPN services.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, NIS2 and internal security frameworks.
• Perform incident and problem analysis, including root-cause investigations.
• Support and optimise IAM processes, RBAC models and security configurations.

Projects, Documentation & Cross-Domain Collaboration

• Contribute to lifecycle projects, upgrades and new implementations.
• Advise on architecture and improvement initiatives.
• Produce technical documentation, configurations, procedures and design materials.
• Act as 2nd/3rd-line escalation for complex technical issues.
• Collaborate with platform, workplace, security and networking teams.

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in hybrid or infrastructure engineering roles.
• Strong knowledge of Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory (Hybrid), AVD.
• Experience with VMware/Hyper-V, Docker/Kubernetes/AKS and automation (PowerShell/Azure CLI).
• Experience with networking (Cisco + Azure).
• Familiarity with ITIL, security principles, RBAC and monitoring/observability tools.
• Nice to have: Intune MDM/MAM, IAM experience, CI/CD and IaC.
• Preferred: AZ-104, VMware VCP, Nutanix NCP.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
