Job description

Your new company

Hays are working with a global digital and media organisation that operates high-traffic, consumer-facing platforms used by millions worldwide. The business combines technology, data and innovation to deliver seamless digital experiences across web and mobile, and is continuing to invest heavily in modern, cloud-first infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing engineering function where DevOps plays a strategic role in shaping platforms, improving reliability and supporting future growth.

Your New Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll play a key role in modernising and scaling cloud infrastructure across development and production environments. Working closely with software engineers and platform teams, you'll help evolve DevOps practices, support cloud migration initiatives and improve how systems are deployed, monitored and operated. This is a hands-on role with scope to influence architecture, improve processes and mentor others, while still staying close to the technology. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and supporting scalable, secure infrastructure in AWS
  • Contributing to the migration of legacy systems into cloud-based environments
  • Building and maintaining infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code
  • Improving CI/CD pipelines to support safe and efficient deployments
  • Enhancing monitoring, logging and incident response capabilities

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you don't need to tick every box. The team are keen to speak with engineers who bring strong fundamentals and a collaborative mindset. Essential experience:

  • Commercial experience in a DevOps, SRE or platform engineering role
  • Hands-on experience working with AWS
  • Strong Linux and systems knowledge
  • Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools (such as Terraform)
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
  • Experience supporting containerised applications (Docker, ECS or Kubernetes)
  • Scripting or coding experience (e.g. Bash, Python or similar)
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience supporting Java-based applications
  • Familiarity with configuration management or observability tools
  • Experience contributing to cloud migration projects

What You'll Get in Return

In return, you'll join a forward-thinking organisation that values engineering excellence and continuous improvement. You can expect:

  • A competitive salary and benefits package
  • Hybrid working with a Belfast-based office
  • The opportunity to work on large-scale, customer-facing platforms
  • Real influence over cloud and DevOps strategy
  • Support for learning, development and career progression
  • A collaborative, inclusive engineering culture

If this is not right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career. #4792404 - Roisin
