Join Tesla's Storage Infrastructure team as a Staff Site Reliability Engineer focused on building and operating exabyte scale on-premises object storage systems that expose the AWS S3 API. You will own critical components that provide object storage, archive storage, bucket migration, and high-availability data management across thousands of servers. This role combines deep systems engineering, large-scale distributed database expertise and modern software development in Rust to ensure Tesla's massive datasets remain reliable, performant, and cost-effective. What You'll Do
- Be a member of Tesla's storage team that is responsible for providing archive storage and bucket moving capabilities for Tesla's on-prem object storage, while leveraging the AWS S3 API
- Help manage large-scale data (exabytes) on multiple types of storage devices
- Develop server software using Rust
- Deploy code that will be used by thousands of servers with high availability requirements
- Help implement database migrations with zero downtime
- Work on improving performance of database queries
- Debug and define new database schemas
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of databases (Postgres is a plus)
- Strong software development experience, and experience working on large-scale projects
- Comfortable implementing database migrations with zero downtime (i.e., when transitioning between critical dependencies)
- Experience implementing sharding and partitioning

Expected Compensation $200,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
