Job description
Nextworld is looking for an IT Analyst 2 to join our shared services IT team, based out of the Overland Park, KS office. In this role, you will support both Nextworld and Cloud Inventory - serving as a senior technical resource for end users across both organizations while taking on greater ownership of system administration, infrastructure reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The IT Analyst 2 is a step up in independence, complexity, and scope from the Analyst 1 role. You will move beyond reactive support to proactively identify gaps, drive process improvements, contribute to IT strategy, and mentor junior team members. If you thrive on ownership, operate well with ambiguity, and want to shape how IT runs across two fast-moving software companies, this is your role.
What You Will Do
System Administration & Advanced Support (50%)
- Administer, monitor, and optimize hardware, software, network systems, and cloud infrastructure across both business units
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues that require deeper analysis and judgment to resolve
- Lead root cause analysis on recurring incidents and implement permanent fixes rather than workarounds
- Manage system patching, updates, and backups with a proactive posture toward availability and security
Technology Analysis & Process Improvement (20%)
- Evaluate existing IT systems and workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend scalable solutions
- Research, pilot, and implement new tools and technologies that support organizational growth and operational goals
- Develop and maintain IT standards, playbooks, and runbooks that improve consistency and reduce tribal knowledge
- Contribute to IT roadmap discussions, bringing practical perspective on what is working, what is not, and what is next
Security & Compliance (15%)
- Own and maintain IT security controls, including identity and access management, endpoint protection, and network security
- Lead or support internal audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews across both organizations
- Monitor for security incidents and take appropriate action; escalate as needed with clear documentation
- Ensure systems and processes remain compliant with applicable data protection policies and regulatory requirements
Collaboration, Mentorship & Documentation (10%)
- Partner with business unit stakeholders to understand operational needs and translate them into IT solutions
- Mentor and support junior IT team members, providing guidance on troubleshooting approaches and best practices
- Produce high-quality documentation for system configurations, procedures, and architectural decisions
- Lead training and onboarding sessions for employees across both organizations
Project Leadership (5%)
- Lead or co-lead IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and cross-functional implementations
- Manage vendor relationships, coordinate procurement, and hold third parties accountable for deliverables and SLAs
- Track project scope, risks, and outcomes; communicate status clearly to stakeholders and leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, OR relevant technical certifications with 3+ years of IT experience
- Demonstrated experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise IT environments, including endpoints, networking, identity management, and cloud platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - you look for root causes, not just quick fixes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, with a bias toward action and completion
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Experience working in a multi-entity or shared services environment is a plus
- Familiarity with IT security frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC 2, NIST, HIPAA) preferred
- A customer-first orientation and the professionalism to represent IT well under pressure
