1st Advantage Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a full-time Applications Support Specialist II to support our Technology department in our corporate office of Yorktown, Virginia. The scheduled hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Application Support Specialist II is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing critical business software applications. This role ensures applications are current, reliable, and effectively meet operational needs. This position also provides Tier II support to the Service Desk, manages software deployment projects, and collaborates with both internal teams and external vendors to resolve technical issues and deliver solutions.

Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for the Service Desk and junior support staff.
- Actively contribute to the planning, coordination, and execution of system upgrades and major application initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and minimal disruption to operations. Support project leads by managing assigned tasks, facilitating communication, tracking milestones, and assisting with risk identification and mitigation.
- Serve as a technical advisor and liaison between IT and cross-functional business units, leading the support, optimization, and integration of complex core applications. Partner with business leaders to assess evolving needs and translate them into scalable application strategies and enhancements.
- Drive continuous improvement by proactively identifying opportunities to streamline business processes and enhance application performance, leveraging automation, integration, and emerging technologies. Able to lead new indicatives for innovative solutions.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, training materials, and knowledgebase content to support knowledge transfer and application literacy across the organization. Mentor and train Level I Specialists and other team members.
- Experience supporting and administering Fiserv DNA core banking systems, including configuration, troubleshooting, user management, and coordination of vendor support for system updates and enhancements.Familiarity with credit union or financial institution operations preferred, with a strong understanding of Fiserv DNA core banking workflows such as deposits, lending, member services, and accounting.
Performance Measurements:
- Complete scheduled upgrades and maintenance for key business applications (e.g., IMM, MeridianLink, DNA, Nautilus, etc.).
- Collaborate with business units to fully leverage and enhance existing and upcoming application functionalities.
- Provide daily support for core banking operations, including routine tasks and scheduled processes, while assisting the Service Desk with escalated application issues and third-party vendor management.
- Effectively participate in, and complete projects involving IT initiatives and business applications.

Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Windows Server administration?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Experience Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
Other Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to different audiences. Ability to self-learn and work independently with minimal supervision. Effective at managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Proficient in supporting Microsoft Windows Server and desktop environments, including basic server and admin troubleshooting. Demonstrated experience with specialized ancillary line of business applications in support of critical business functions. Experience using IT ticketing systems for tracking and resolving issues. Comfortable supporting batch jobs, file imports, and report generation for core business applications. Comfortable with remote support tools (e.g., Remote Desktop, TeamViewer). Physical Requirements Talking - Effective verbal communication to convey and acknowledge receiving detail or important instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly. Average Hearing - Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information to communicate effectively. Finger Dexterity - Using primarily just fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up objects and cables, or pinching fingers together to use equipment. Repetitive Motion - Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Visual Abilities - Visual acuity necessary to read small print, read printed and electronic instructions, read email and computer screens, and operate machinery. Able to distinguish between various lights and colors. Physical Strength - Lifting and carrying equipment, ladders, and office machines to facilitate maintenance and infrastructure. Sitting at a desk or workstation during work hours. Exerts up to 50lbs of force occasionally and required to lift up to 50 lbs. Good physical health and fitness level to allow for occasional lifting, climbing, and manual labor. Ability to Operate a Motor Vehicle - Ability to operate a motor vehicle (including a truck or van) with no restrictions. Employee must maintain a valid active license and insurance policy. Reaching and Stretching - Reaching and stretching, above and below the shoulders, able to connect wiring, cables, and work at heights and outside. Bending - Bending, stooping, squatting, and able to reach hardware components, cables, and other infrastructure elements in confined spaces. Able to work on the floor and on a ladder. Work Environment Standard office environment.
