Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Managed Systems Engineer to join our elite technical team. In this role, you will act as a lead technical consultant and high-level problem solver for our diverse client portfolio. This isn't a "sit behind a desk" ticket-crunching job. You will be responsible for designing and implementing complex network architectures, leading cloud migrations, and serving as the final point of escalation for critical technical issues. The ideal candidate is someone who balances technical mastery with a human-centric approach, translating complex "tech speak" into actionable business solutions for our clients., * Infrastructure Design & Deployment: Architect and implement robust server environments and network infrastructures (LAN/WAN) tailored to specific client needs.

  • Strategic Consulting: Meet with business owners and stakeholders to evaluate current systems, identify inefficiencies, and recommend cost-saving technology upgrades.
  • Advanced Cybersecurity: Deploy and manage multi-layered security protocols, including firewalls (SonicWall), endpoint protection (Bitdefender), and proactive threat hunting.
  • Cloud Architecture: Lead migrations to cloud-based environments and manage ongoing administration for Microsoft 365, Hosted Exchange, and Azure services.
  • Disaster Recovery: Design and test comprehensive data backup and disaster recovery plans using industry-leading tools like Datto and EMC².
  • Mentorship & Escalation: Provide Tier 3 support and mentor junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Proactive Management: Use RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management) tools to identify and resolve potential system failures before they impact the client's operations.

Requirements

  • Experience: A minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in an MSP environment or a high-level corporate IT role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server environments, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and advanced networking (VLANs, VPNs, Routing/Switching).
  • Security Expertise: Hands-on experience with cybersecurity frameworks and managing hardware from vendors like Dell, SonicWall, and Cisco.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical business owners. You should be as comfortable in a server room as you are in a boardroom.
  • Certifications: Preference will be given to candidates holding CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar high-level credentials.
  • Local Presence: Must be located in or willing to commute to the Charleston, SC area for on-site client consultations and emergency support.

Benefits & conditions
