Job description
As a Seasonal GIS Analyst, you will play a hands-on role in transforming geospatial data into meaningful insights that support utility, forestry, and natural resource projects. You'll work closely with drone data specialists to classify LiDAR, validate spatial datasets, and contribute to high-quality mapping deliverables. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional looking to sharpen real-world GIS skills, work with advanced geospatial technologies, and gain exposure to applied drone-based mapping workflows.
You'll be joining a small, supportive team where your contributions directly impact project quality, data accuracy, and client deliverables., * Annotating forestry imagery
- Classifying and validating LiDAR point clouds for utility infrastructure projects
- Managing and organizing GIS data layers, shapefiles, and spatial databases
- Performing spatial analyses, QA/QC checks, and producing maps for project deliverables
- Supporting data processing workflows in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and CloudCompare
- Collaborating with GIS and field staff to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Maintaining organized documentation and version control for project datasets
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing) in Geography, Environmental Science, Geomatics, Forestry, or a related STEM field
- Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) and LiDAR tools (CloudCompare, LAStools, PDAL)
- Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and spatial data formats (SHP, LAS/LAZ, GeoTIFF)
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to thrive in a small, collaborative team
Benefits & conditions
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (40 hours per week; occasional weekends during peak project periods); This position offers the potential to grow into a permanent full-time position depending on performance and project demand, but this outcome is not guaranteed.
