Job description

Designs, develops, and maintains secure network protocol software for data exchange between systems while supporting architecture, testing, and risk assessment activities. Contributes to lifecycle development, performance analysis, and implementation of secure networking technologies within advanced ground system environments., * Designs and develops software solutions for secure network stack protocol systems enabling data exchange between platforms

  • Architects and maintains networking protocol software, ensuring alignment with system security requirements
  • Analyzes performance, conducts testing, and monitors software to identify risks, vulnerabilities, and weaknesses
  • Evaluates networking protocols through assessments to improve security posture and operational resilience
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to gather and define secure networking and protocol requirements across development lifecycle
  • Supports implementation of secure communication practices within software products and infrastructure environments
  • Researches emerging networking protocols, cybersecurity trends, and technologies to inform system enhancements
  • Applies secure design principles across operating systems including Windows, Linux, Cisco IOS, VXWorks, and ESXi
  • Contributes to development of air-gapped and WAN-connected systems within ground system architectures
  • Executes software project coordination and supports supplier management activities
  • Documents system designs, testing outcomes, and compliance considerations for secure networking solutions

Requirements

  • Possesses Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline experience and 5 years related relevant work experience

  • Demonstrates experience in Linux deployment and administration including bash scripting, remote access, and deployment

  • Applies experience in Basic networking, storage administration, and package management

  • Utilizes experience in Basic virtualization principles

  • Exhibits experience in Containerization, and Kubernetes familiarity

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

  • Preferred Skills

  • Holds Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Demonstrates knowledge of communications and network concepts, principles, and secure system design, including architecture, interfaces, reliability, and environmental constraints

  • Applies knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., FAA, FCC, NTIA, IEEE, ARINC, ANSI, SAE, ICAO, ITU)

  • Identifies system susceptibility, survivability, and vulnerabilities, including protocol exploits, spoofing, and malware techniques

  • Utilizes knowledge of software programming languages, databases, and application within the software domain

  • Resolves complex network challenges including Quality of Service, multi-level security, and protocol conversion

  • Applies knowledge of modeling, simulation, and emulation tools, and software development lifecycle tools

  • Integrates networking protocols, operating systems, and hardware/software systems into functional solutions

  • Understands real-time systems, constraints, and applications impacting software architecture and design

  • Supports requirements development, allocation, and lifecycle traceability

  • Implements software architecture and design methodologies
