Job description
The Hardware Integration Lead provides end-to-end technical leadership for hardware integration and validation across vehicle programs. This role serves as the single point of accountability for ensuring hardware requirements, interfaces, and validation strategies are defined early, executed consistently, and governed rigorously to protect program timing, quality, and robustness., * Ensure hardware requirements are consistently validated during early program development and across the project lifecycle.
- Act as the subject matter expert for validation and integration, mentoring and supporting DREs in planning and execution activities.
- Approve validation plans and oversee the implementation of customized validation strategies for re-tests and emerging issues requiring expedited solutions.
- Lead system-level validation initiatives to facilitate earlier identification of issues, transitioning discovery from CTF to preliminary development phases.
- Verify ICDe and ICDm accuracy and maintain comprehensive, consistent, and robust interface definitions.
- Oversee interfacing and calibration verification (e.g., radio HMI for audio features, HUD dimming curve assessments).
- Confirm that vehicle properties for supplier integration are maintained at the appropriate fidelity level.
- Participate in and govern vehicle-level integration and validation processes via standardized checkpoints.
- Communicate findings from integration and validation activities to Technical Specifications (TS) teams to reinforce requirements.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on PVCL status; review and advise DREs on test plan development.
- Assess holistic program progress at VDC for PVE and during formal program reviews.
- Lead the development of standardized methods and read-across initiatives for addressing shortages and Tier-N strategies.
- Potential custodian of GMW3431, collaborating with ENV SMEs to ensure compliance and robustness.
- Potential custodian of regulatory compliance for components on export vehicles
- Provide ECR validation approvals.
- Serve as Approver 2 for 3660 sign-off procedures.
- Offer CG3000 coaching and promote its uniform application across multiple programs.
- Lead technical sourcing evaluations and supplier preparedness reviews to guarantee alignment with GM standards.
- Deliver consolidated hardware integration and validation reports to Core PDT, supporting transparent, data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure the supplier completes component validation within the designated timeframe and participates in Design Review Based on Test Results (DRBTR) events.

- Establishes defined technical ownership and governance for hardware integration and validation.
- Eliminates fragmented execution and ensures consistency in methodologies across programs.
- Enhances early risk identification, thereby minimizing late-stage rework and failures.

- Elevates validation and integration from individual efforts to a scalable, disciplined organizational function., This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.
Requirements
- Over five years of experience in vehicle engineering development.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong business acumen combined with political awareness.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle systems and development methodologies.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining cross-functional collaborative relationships.
- Significant experience in automotive hardware development, integration, and validation.
- Demonstrated capability to lead diverse technical initiatives and influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Thorough understanding of system interfaces, calibration processes, and vehicle-level integration.
- Experience with GM validation procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
- Advanced communication skills, including experience presenting technical updates to executive leadership forums.

- Demonstrated proficiency in PRTS, ECR, Jira, and Emerge systems.
- Extensive experience with CAN/LIN architecture and expertise in log collection for root cause analysis.
- Comprehensive knowledge of infotainment systems.
- In-depth understanding of vehicle electrical architecture and related subsystems.
- Master of Engineering degree (preferred).
- Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (DFSS).
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and transform uncertainty into opportunity.
