The ideal candidate will possess strong system-level network analytical skills and an excellent understanding of methodologies and tools used to monitor and measure network and software performance. This role requires good resource management skills to balance progress on multiple projects. You will have the opportunity to solve real world customer problems, and to gain a detailed understanding of the internals of industrial strength data warehouse and analytics data solutions. To be successful, you should be a self-starter who has the ability to quickly learn new technologies and dig deep into technical issues.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to update application designs for new architectures and features that improve end-to-end user performance.

  • Advocate for quality application design by recommending improvements to enhance performance and reliability across cloud and on-prem networks.

  • Monitor and measure network performance within highly parallel software applications and across multiple systems in diverse deployment models (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Virtualization, bare metal).

  • Use strong analytical troubleshooting skills to identify network issues and optimization opportunities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, and determine root causes and propose resolutions.

  • Develop and maintain models to analyze and predict system behavior based on configuration changes and evolving technologies.

  • Provide remote engineering support for internal product development teams and participating in engineering support for Customer Services teams.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build consensus and drive issue resolution.

  • Demonstrate strong team-player qualities by finding common ground and solving problems for collective success.

  • Work closely with team leaders, project managers, and other groups (product management, marketing, testing) on multi-member projects.

Who You'll Work With

You will join a dedicated team responsible for evaluating, designing, manufacturing, and supporting on-premises systems. This close-knit team is committed to the success of the hardware platforms delivering scalable enterprise analytics. Reporting to the Platform Infrastructure Engineering organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 10 years of related work experience.

  • Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 7 years of related work experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, Spanning Tree, EVPN, VRF, QoS, etc

  • Practical experience troubleshooting issues related to LAN, WAN, and packet analysis.

  • Familiarity with LINUX internals/administration

  • Knowledge and experience working with routers/switches/LB/Firewalls on cloud and on-prem platforms.

  • Experience working with High Performance Computing (HPC) networking

  • Experience with network configuration automation (scripting with Pearl/Python/Bash or DevOps tools like Chef/Puppet/Ansible).

  • Experience with building out network infrastructure in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment either in the public cloud or in on-prem solutions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse teams, vendors, and stakeholders.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience with computer system components including processor, memory, storage, and adapters.

  • Knowledge of high-speed networking and high-performance storage including networking protocols.

  • Strong attention to detail to maintain accurate and up-to-date product documentation, ensuring alignment with design changes and manufacturing requirements.

  • Exceptional creative, analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
