Job description

The Hartford is seeking a Junior Developer / Junior Data Engineer to join our AI Enablement organization . This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is excited to learn, build, and contribute to real, production-grade AI and data platforms alongside experienced Data Scientists, Engineers, and Technical Leaders.

This position is not expected to own end-to-end platforms or initiatives . Instead, you will work on well-defined components within larger AI systems, gaining hands-on experience while being supported by senior engineers and data scientists., Data & Platform Development

  • Contribute to the development of data pipelines, APIs, and services supporting AI and analytics platforms.

  • Assist in building and maintaining cloud-based data workflows for structured and unstructured data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 0-2 years of experience (including internships, co-ops, or academic projects).

  • Familiarity with Python and basic software development concepts.

  • Basic knowledge of SQL and data structures.

  • Interest in data engineering, analytics, or AI systems.

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.

Preferred

  • Exposure to cloud platforms or modern data stacks.

  • Experience with APIs, ETL pipelines, or data processing frameworks.

  • Coursework or projects related to data engineering, machine learning, or analytics .

  • Curiosity about AI, NLP, computer vision, or synthetic data (experience not required)., Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Benefits & conditions

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$100,960 - $151,440
