Job description

Coordinates the design, installation and support of network communications, including LAN/WAN systems Assists in the planning of large-scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies Establishes networking environment by designing system configurations; directs system installations and actively defines, documents, and enforces system standards Maximizes network performance through proactive monitoring; troubleshoots network problems and outages, schedules upgrades, and collaborates with a team on network optimization Administers overall network performance, such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, and other data communications systems. Configures and installs various network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN) Works with change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to network infrastructure Assists in the planning of large-scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation requires evaluation and judgment recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment Maintains technical and architectural documentation Responsible for analyzing capacity issues and developing capacity planning models Performs other related technology duties and projects as assigned, Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Security Administrator to provide boundary protection support for the Air Force Intranet Control (AFINC) III Support program at Lackland AFB.…

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant degree, 3-5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Strong Knowledge of Network Topologies, (IDS) Intrusion Detection Systems, (IPS) Intrusion Protection Systems; strong knowledge of VPN Technologies; strong knowledge of Cisco and / or Avaya products Skill in CISCO Firewall Management Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner across functional and technical departments, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, stakeholders, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general public Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test Must have available transportation during entire workday Required to travel to remote sites within Bexar County Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance
