Job description
We are seeking a Design Engineer II to support advanced motorsports and vehicle engineering programs focused on mechanical system and component design. This role will contribute to projects from early-stage concept development through production-ready design execution while collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical design experience, hands-on CAD modeling capabilities, and a solid understanding of vehicle systems integration. - Support the design and development of vehicle systems, mechanical components, and product assemblies
- Create 3D CAD models, packaging layouts, and engineering concepts using Siemens NX
- Perform structural and linear-static Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS Mechanical
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, technical documentation, and release packages
- Support system-level integration activities and engineering design reviews
- Assist with design validation planning, testing activities, and DVP&R documentation
- Contribute to composite component, tooling, and mold design efforts
- Support billet and sheet metal component development and optimization
Program & Customer Support
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to resolve technical and design-related issues
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and engineering presentations
- Support prototype builds, manufacturing activities, and engineering change requests (ECRs)
- Assist with test procedure development and validation activities
- Participate in customer meetings, project reviews, and technical discussions
- Support evaluation of emerging technologies and new engineering opportunities
Requirements
Do you have experience in Tooling design?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of engineering and mechanical design experience
- Proficiency with Siemens NX 2406 or newer for parametric 3D modeling
- Experience using ANSYS Mechanical for structural and FEA analysis
- Strong understanding of complete vehicle systems and subsystem interaction
- Experience designing mechanical systems and components in high-performance environments
- Knowledge of composite materials, tooling, and mold development processes
- Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project
- U.S. Citizenship required, * Prior motorsports or racing industry experience, ideally supporting NASCAR or similar programs
- Experience with Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
- Hands-on experience supporting prototype builds and shop-floor activities, * Passion for motorsports, engineering, and performance vehicle development
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working collaboratively across engineering and manufacturing teams
- Willingness to support both office-based engineering and hands-on build activities
Benefits & conditions
$50 - $60 an hour - Contract, Pay Rate: $50$60/hr (W2) Schedule: Hybrid schedule with 23 days per week work-from-home flexibility, Work Environment & Schedule
- Hybrid work schedule with 23 remote days per week
- Core hours are typically 8:00 AM 4:00 PM, with flexibility based on project demands
- Occasional extended hours may be required to support program milestones and testing schedules
- Minimal travel required to customer sites and testing locations within the regional area
