At North Wind, we are advancing hypersonic technologies through cutting-edge research, system development, and flight testing. Our team drives innovation in high-speed aerodynamics, propulsion systems, and mission-critical components, supporting every phase of hypersonic programs-from R&D to flight testing. If you are passionate about pushing technological boundaries in a dynamic environment, we invite you to join us.
The Lead Engineering Analyst will conduct analysis on designs of R&D prototype components and assemblies., * Performs thermal and structural analysis of product components and assemblies using finite element or hand calculation methods.
- Lead a small team of analysts, providing mentorship, reviewing output of team members, and driving analysis tasks to closure. Manages analysis related budgets and schedules and tracks team performance accordingly.
- Reviews customer specifications and internal methods to plan analysis activities, determine loading conditions and develop appropriate acceptance criteria.
- Supports customer interface meetings and design reviews by presenting analysis plans, status and results as required.
- Documents analysis results in either presentation, spreadsheet or formal report forms. Creates tools and templates to improve analysis efficiency as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline with 10+ years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to above.
- Candidate should have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work on multiple projects, and prioritize workload.
- General familiarity with aerospace research and development test products such as wind tunnel models, test engines and prototype devices; and analysis of these in the subsonic, transonic and hypersonic realms.
- US citizenship required to obtain/maintain a DOD security clearance.
Preferred Knowledge / Ability:
- Working knowledge of computer-aided modeling codes (NX or SOLIDWORKS preferred)
- Expert knowledge of Finite Element Analysis techniques and codes (ANSYS preferred)
- Expert knowledge of steady state, transient, modal, buckliing, harmonic response, and random vibration analysis. Also familiar with the modeling of nonlinearities such as contact, material plasticity, large deflections, etc.
- Expert ability for performing textbook hand calculations for axial/bending/torsional stress, beam deflection, and free body diagrams, and 1D fluid flow.
- Familiarity with Computation Fluid Dynamics work such that you can supervise CFD team members while not necessarily performing the work.
- Familiarity with ASME Section VIII pressure vessel design and calculations.
- Working knowledge of Mechanics of Materials for the purposes of obtaining material strength and fatigue limits for a wide range of materials including metals, composites, castings, weldments and 3D printed parts.
- Working knowledge of stress-based and strain-based fatigue.
- Familiarity with high temperature part design, materials and analysis.
