Job description

You will work closely with engineering, design, and business stakeholders to ensure the product delivers real value, remains aligned to business priorities, and continues to improve over time., As a Senior Product Owner, you will take ownership of the product backlog and day-to-day product delivery within an Agile environment.

This is a hands-on role, focused on translating product vision and strategy into clear customer problems, associated outcomes and priorities, with well-defined user stories and incremental value delivered through sprint-based development.

You will act as the primary link between the business and delivery teams, ensuring customer needs, operational requirements, and technical considerations are well understood and balanced., Product Ownership & Delivery

  • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring it is prioritised, refined, and ready for development.
  • Write clear, actionable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives alongside engineering teams.
  • Make day-to-day prioritisation decisions, balancing business value, customer needs, and technical constraints.

Product Vision & Strategy

  • Work with senior stakeholders to understand product goals and contribute to the product vision and roadmap.
  • Translate high-level objectives into deliverable increments that support longer-term outcomes.
  • Maintain a clear view of upcoming work and dependencies, communicating priorities effectively.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as the key product contact for internal stakeholders across technology, operations, and the wider business.
  • Gather, clarify, and challenge requirements where appropriate to ensure shared understanding.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly and proactively.

Customer & Discovery Insight

  • Use customer feedback, operational insight, and data to inform prioritisation and product decisions.
  • Support ongoing discovery activities such as feedback loops, problem validation, and outcome review.
  • Iterate based on evidence, learning from what is delivered in-market.

Ways of Working

  • Champion effective Agile practices and contribute positively to team ceremonies.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, testers, and designers to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Test cases?, This role is ideal for an experienced Product Owner with 3-5 years' experience, who enjoys being embedded with delivery teams and seeing products evolve in-market over the long term., Essential

  • 3-5 years' experience working as a Product Owner in an Agile development environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with backlog management, user stories, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.
  • Ability to translate customer problems and business goals into clear delivery priorities.
  • Confident decision-maker, comfortable balancing competing demands and constraints.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience working on digital platforms or complex business systems.
  • Familiarity with the UK property, mortgage, or financial services sectors.
  • Exposure to product discovery techniques (e.g. customer interviews, analytics, feedback loops).
  • Experience working with multiple delivery teams or dependencies., * Have you owned and prioritised a product backlog, including writing user stories and leading sprint planning and refinement?
  • Have you worked from customer problems or business goals to define outcomes and delivery priorities?
  • Are you able to work hybrid, attending the Ellesmere Port office 1-2 days per week, and is the £45-55k salary range acceptable to you?
