Job description

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Web Designer with 2-3 years of professional experience to join our growing digital team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about creating engaging, user-focused websites and has a strong understanding of modern web design standards.

You will work closely with developers, marketing teams, and stakeholders to design and deliver visually appealing, responsive, and high-performing websites. The role requires a balance of creativity and technical awareness, ensuring designs are both aesthetically strong and practical to implement.

As a Web Designer, you will contribute to a variety of projects including corporate websites, landing pages, and e-commerce platforms, ensuring all deliverables align with business goals and user needs.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver responsive website layouts, landing pages, and UI components across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices

Produce wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, and Photoshop

Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure accurate and efficient implementation of designs

Apply UX/UI best practices to improve usability, accessibility, and user journeys

Optimise website designs for performance, page speed, and SEO in line with UK digital standards

Maintain consistency with brand guidelines across all digital touchpoints

Update and enhance existing websites, ensuring modern design standards are met

Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive behaviour across all major devices

Support marketing teams with creative assets such as banners, email templates, and campaign landing pages

Requirements

2-3 years of commercial experience in web design or a similar role

Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and a basic understanding of JavaScript

Proven experience designing responsive and mobile-first websites

Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, and Photoshop

Experience working with CMS platforms such as WordPress

Solid understanding of UX/UI principles, layout design, typography, and colour theory

Familiarity with SEO fundamentals and website performance optimisation

Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Good communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team environment

Desirable Skills

Experience with CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap or Tailwind CSS

Basic knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks such as React

Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git)

Experience designing for e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify or WooCommerce)

Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices

Awareness of UK GDPR and data privacy considerations in web design

Experience using analytics tools to inform design improvements
