Job description

On-site Hardware Engineer position (local applicants only)

  • Security clearance required (active preferred; interim acceptable to start)
  • Focus on mixed-signal board design, FPGA/SoC systems, and hardware testing
  • Support and develop spaceflight electrical subsystems (laser communication hardware)
  • Design, develop, and test hardware systems including PCBs, processors, and peripherals
  • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and board bring-up
  • Lead and support integration and testing of spaceflight hardware
  • Debug complex electrical issues with cross-functional engineering teams (HDL, firmware, mechanical, optical)
  • Develop and document test procedures; validate hardware prototypes
  • Operate lab equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, PSU)
  • Utilize industry-standard EDA tools (Altium, OrCAD, Cadence Allegro)
  • Work closely with Mechanical and RF teams for system integration

Requirements

5+ years experience in hardware design, especially mixed-signal systems

  • Strong background in FPGA/SoC systems, high-speed interfaces, clocking, and power design

  • Proficient in PCB schematic capture and layout

  • Hands-on experience with lab testing tools

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams Preferred Qualifications:

  • Programming experience (Python, C, C++, Bash)

  • Embedded Linux experience

  • Background in aerospace, space, or defense hardware development
