Job description

The Quality Assurance Analyst works under the supervision of the QA Manager, the Analyst is responsible for creating an end-to-end test plan, executing the plan, and managing all activities during the testing cycle. The Analyst will ensure all the objectives are met and the solution works as expected. The role is familiar with the software development cycle and quality assurance methodologies. A QA Analyst could be responsible for testing applications built in house by developers, 3 rd party applications, or hardware.

Essential Functions

  1. Write test plans and test cases from requirements and test cases that are outside the requirements.
  2. Ability to create user stories from requirements.
  3. Run manual and automated tests.
  4. Escalate bugs to Sr. Engineer, developers and/or other stakeholders.
  5. Participate in the Scrum process during projects.
  6. Meet project deadlines and deliverables.
  7. Ability to think abstractly not conform to normal solutions.
  8. Run demos of applications tested.
  9. Assist in creating and maintaining test documentation.

Requirements

  1. Attention to Detail: Taking responsibility for a thorough and detailed method of working.
  2. Usage of Technical Expertise: Acquiring and applying technical and functional knowledge in one's own technological area of specialty.
  3. Problem Solving: Having the ability to identify problems and issues of varying complexities and to find effective solutions with few guidelines.
  4. Written Communication: able to document user stories and bug in a way other users can understand.
  5. Understanding of basic software and hardware
  6. Oral Communication: Shaping and expressing ideas and information in an effective manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities., Must be able to perform repetitious hand/eye movement. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. This is a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool, as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Basic understanding of software development and testing principles.
  2. Knowledge of Scrum process, QA theory and methodology
  3. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  4. Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  5. Familiarity with testing tools and bug tracking systems (a plus)
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills
