Job description
As a System Administrator for Texas Art Supply, you will provide support for all aspects of the IT infrastructure in a multi-site organization. This position entails a diverse skill set from desktop, server, virtualization, hardware, network, backup and end-user support to phone system maintenance and processing adds/moves/changes.
Primarily, desktop/user support which requires being on-site for issues needing hands on, as well as supporting the virtualization infrastructure and providing Linux and Windows server management. The virtualization infrastructure utilizes Proxmox (KVM/LXC) with a ZFS storage back-end which hosts Windows, Ubuntu and Debian based servers. Nagios for network monitoring, osTicket for help desk ticketing, Graylog for log aggregation, Ubiquiti UniFi for WiFi and video surveillance, and pfSense for firewall and VPN (remote access and site-to-site). Internal and external websites use NGINX, Apache, PHP, ColdFusion, as well as git for version control. Familiarity with these open source tools is strongly encouraged. User account management and adds/moves/changes of desktops and phones will also be required.
Responsibilities
- Provide desktop support both remote and in person for company employees
- Address Windows, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email and printing issues
- Troubleshoot, update and manage Windows desktops, Windows and Linux servers, and virtualization infrastructure
- Provide basic WiFi, network and cable troubleshooting
- Support Android-based POS system, credit card terminals and warehouse scanners
- Support a Panasonic PBX phone system across multiple sites
- Complete adds/moves/changes for PCs, user accounts, phones, email and internal tools
- Thoroughly document processes and procedures on an internal wiki
- Respond to network monitoring alerts and escalate issues as necessary
- Provide "hands and eyes" support for server hardware and network equipment
- Coordinate with outside vendors for power, generator and HVAC maintenance
- Make recommendations and implement desktop, server and network hardware upgrades
- Availability after hours and weekends
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows?, * Knowledge of troubleshooting, configuration and installation of Microsoft Windows desktop (XP,10,11) and Server (2003, 2012, Terminal Server, MSSQL, Active Directory)
- Familiarity with troubleshooting and resolving common application, printer, network and email issues
- Ability to diagnose and resolve basic cabling issues* Proficient in server and desktop hardware diagnosis, upgrades and maintenance
- Be detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with virtualization concepts and software
- Familiarity with open source tools and the Linux command line or the willingness to learn
