Job description

Responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining SQL databases in production and disaster recovery situations. Ensure database performance, availability, and security., * Analyzes logical and physical requirements for database applications to include control and coordination of space management.

  • Leads, coordinates and reviews database design and operation.

  • Maintains database system integrity, accessibility, security and access privileges. Ensures accuracy of data conversion specifications, software installations, upgrades and maintenance.

  • Develops, set up and initiate data recovery systems.

  • Monitors the overall performance of the database to recommend and initiate actions to improve/optimize performance by tuning databases, database queries, system hardware and operating system.

  • Designs, implements, and maintains Azure-based database solutions. Manages Azure SQL Database, and other relevant Azure Data services. Monitors performance and optimize databases for efficiency and scalability.

  • Utilizes PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other automation tools to streamline routine tasks.

  • Performs capacity planning and recommends scaling strategies as needed. Stays informed about Azure updates and incorporates new features into the existing infrastructure.

  • Follows proper driving and safety regulations while operating company vehicle. Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU's established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML) addressing Money Laundering and the Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).

  • Other duties as may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in database programming with SQL relational databases and network software support experience.
  • Experience in SQL database encryption.
  • Requires moving throughout the day, lifting up to 20 pounds, bending, reaching above and below shoulder level occasionally.
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems, MS Active Directory, and networking protocols.
  • The nature of this job requires employee to be a team worker that can communicate with diplomacy and tact in interacting with business members and GECU colleagues.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt, gain technical competency and change directions as developments occur.Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to provide off hour and weekend support in the event of an emergency.
