Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant IT Support Manager at our busy and expanding Ro Ro Terminal at Killingholme. This role will be based at Killingholme, however travel will be required to our other sites across the UK when required. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar role.

Your Role:

  • Oversee the IT Department ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day tasks at all supported UK sites.
  • Be the line manager to the IT Department team members across all supported UK sites, undertaking any tasks related there too.
  • Oversee the standard of work completed by the Department and ensure a high standard is maintained.
  • Liaise with the Luxembourg IT team and management to ensure group wide IT policies, procedures and directives are effectively actioned across the UK sites.
  • Be the first point of contact for escalated issues.
  • Ensure the effective administration, maintenance, and support of all local IT systems, including but not limited to CCTV servers and other site-specific infrastructure.
  • Liaising with suppliers and contractors to meet the needs of the department.
  • Oversee local IT procurement and ensure adherence to Company purchasing policies, including the timely and accurate processing of all IT-related invoices.
  • Ensure IT staff undertake all mandatory Company safety training and follow all safety procedures and policies. Also ensuring that IT staff are issued with and utilise the appropriate PPE equipment.
  • Verify that all third-party contractors adhere to Company health and safety standards and that all required risk assessments and method statements are completed prior to work commencing.
  • Oversee the team's effective use of the designated IT Service Management (ITSM) platform, ensuring that all incidents, requests, and changes are logged and managed following the policies set by group IT Management.
  • Ensure that all Company policies, procedures, best practices and standards are followed and maintained.
  • Ensure that comprehensive and up to date documentation is created, maintained and shared within the Department.
  • Report as necessary to your Line Manager and, where appropriate Senior Management any matters that may adversely affect the business.
  • Assist the team with support or installation tasks where resource or timescales require.
  • Deputise for the IT Manager in their absence.
  • Be proactive and self-managing in pursuit of duties outlined within this job description.
  • Carry out any other tasks within your skill and capability on an as and when required basis.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in Technical support?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, * Strong understanding of computer networks and operating systems, usage and equipment configuration.

  • Demonstrable experience of managing others.
  • Knowledge and interest in Port Industry.
  • Experience of working in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Have excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and manage own workload.
  • Highly motivated individual with an innovative approach.
  • Possess good oral and written communication.
  • A flexible approach to work is necessary as you will be expected to cover when required.
  • You must also be willing to work to a flexible timetable to meet the changing patterns of work, which could include working at other Ports within the UK and Europe.
  • Ability to make effective decisions, work accurately and methodically.
  • Good team player.
  • Willing to undertake further training.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence., * Diploma of Higher Education (preferred)

Experience:

  • IT support: 3 years (required)
  • IT management: 1 year (preferred)
